These two are very very similar in many many aspectsġ. From my experience people will drop Clannad AS when it hit's the peak and let me tell you if you don't get to the end of the ride you will feel all that much worse. Don't get off the emotional rolercoaster even if you feel it's to much.

Itazura No Kiss takes a different approach, focusing more on the developement of each character as a person. While clannad digs deeper in tragedy, drawing you in to the characters slowly and finally they throw you into lava only to pull you back out again. Both feature a romantic relationship and it's challenges beyond marriage.
